Body scrubs are becoming a very popular fixture in the bathroom. Everyone want smooth and soft skin during the winter and even the summer months. I've been to a few popular body beauty shops to check out the latest scrub trends for you all. And it seems like every beauty company has a "great" scrub for you to own that will exfoliate and give you smooth skin. However, the list of ingredients are crazy long and I found myself questioning if I really wanted to use these products on my skin. When was the last time you clearly understood what the actual ingredients were to your favorite scrub?
Friday's have become my lip scrub making day. I go into my kitchen and mix myself up a little lip scrub using some very simple everyday items and create a scrub that is all natural and amazing. I'll share that recipe with you in a little bit. I figured if I can make myself a lip scrub then how hard can a body scrub be? Actually, after a 2 trials the answer to that question would be, not hard at all! I decide to venture out and make myself a fancy scrub I could indulge in. So of course I decided to make a Brown Sugar Scrub . I've honestly fell in love with this homemade scrub. In fact I've decided to package some up for a few special holiday gifts this year.
Both scrubs (lip & body) are safe to use regularly. I suggest using the lip scrub at least twice a week. And the body scrub daily to achieve the smoothest skin possible. These scrubs should be made in small batches (1oz for the lips & 14oz for the body). These scrubs hold up for about a month or two. If you're planning on making and gifting these lovely scrubs, I would inform the receiver to use them up with in 3 weeks. I am also advising you to make them no more than a 2 days before you gift them. This gives the receiver as many days possible for it's use. Enjoy Rosebuds :)
Mix all of these together in a small container until they create a gritty paste mixture. Gently scrub your lips with your finger or use a soft bristle toothbrush until you achieve a smooth kissable pout. Rinse with water and apply a lip balm.
I suggest applying an EOS lip balm. They are wonderful gems when it comes to lip care. You can order them online using the link or find them in your local Walmart, Target, or Drug Store.
Mix the olive oil, vitamin E, vanilla extract, and honey in a medium mixing bowl first. Then add in the brown sugar. Mix until you have a gritty paste like texture. Using your hands or a body brush gently scrub your body with the scrub. Be sure to pay extra attention to elbows, knees, and your feet.
Please be careful when using this body scrub in the shower as the oils will make the shower a tad slippery.
I'm sure you will love these scrubs as much as I do and I know you'll love saving money on them too. If you take the time to make your own scrubs using the recipes I've created above please share your results with me. I would love to hear from you. Enjoy the scrub Rosebuds :)
