Coastal Scents Mystery Box

HI LOVES!!! I was in the middle of having a bad day when FedEX came ah knocking on my door. In the delivery mans hands was a large box with my name on it! I went through the delivery process and signed for it and hurried into the house. My package is from Coastal Scentsand has me even more excited to see what's inside. Coastal Scents has been kind enough to send me products to review! I'm currently in the works of making videos and have already finished one.

There's a "Mystery Box" that they randomly carry that for an AMAZING steal. The "Mystery Box" is $19.99 and claims to contain $50 worth of products! I opened my box and made a haul video on it contents.

I did my home work and found out that MY "Mystery Box" contained $83.22 worth of products!!

My complete package came with some really cool products and like I said before I'm working on review videos for them. So be sure to come back and see what else I got and see if I think it's a keeper.

Can I get a MUA discount? Part 1

Putting together a pro makeup kit is a huge investment that can get pretty pricey. The popular brands are what you want to have in your kit but the prices may cause you to search for a less costly but still effective option. I'm guilty of this practice majority of us are. But no worries this isn't a crime. A lot of makeup artist run out of product and replace them with another high quality brand that is less expensive. It's the nature of the beauty industry and kit building. We buy products. Try them. Love or hate them. Then we replenish or replace them. The circle of makeup life so to speak.

Before I send you to all of these different companies looking for a discount I must prepare you for the road blocks you may encounter. Below I have created a survivors list of terms you will see and may not fully understand on your discount applications.

You'll need these items to apply for any MUA discount.

INDUSTRY TERMS
Business Card- This seems like a no brainer but there are a few key elements that your business card needs to hold to be considered by makeup companies. Your card should contain your first and last name and your career title. No tag names or stage names. You're a professional now. If you would like to be called something different, while on set verbally mention it to the crew.  It should also have accurate contact information as well.

Website- Not a Facebook page, ModelMayhem page, or any other social media site where your work can be displayed. I'm talking about an actual website designed just for you and your work. For a more clear example check out my site LadyLikeMakeup.com

Comp Card- This a marketing tool like a business card that contains your contact information and a minimum of two photos of your latest and best work. They are usually used by models and agencies.

Tear sheetA page torn or cut from a publication (magazine, news article, etc.) to show that your work has been published. However, with online publications tear sheets can also come in PDF form, known as a "Virtual tear sheet".

Call sheet- This is a termed used to describe a schedule that is issued by the director of the production (video, photo shoot, etc.) It informs everyone involved of the details of the production. And should include every person's name and position on set.

Union Card- This is a card given to members of a labour union groups. It assures pay range and all legal representation of what the Union can offer to the members.  You can visit IATSE for more info on getting a Union Card.

Reference letter-  A letter of reference printed on an official company letterhead. This letter should be from a client (photographer, director, bride, etc.) who is familiar with your work and professional character. They will have positive things to say about you, your work, and your work ethicts.

Any Questions?

In Part 2 I'll be posting the Companies and how you can apply for their discounts.
